Our History

BackupHR™  is the brand name under which MTS provides all of its HR Support Services. Its importance and scale has grown significantly since the recruitment of its senior executive, Cathy Norton, who joined the company at the start of 2007.

MTS was originally established in the name of ‘Motor Trade Selection’ in 1968 and the business has been providing recruitment services to the motor industry since it was initiated by the father of one of the current Directors. The business was originally operated as a partnership and was converted to a limited company at the beginning of 2003.

Strong Culture

The strong ethical culture that underpins the business today goes back to those early days and has been sustained since establishment. The ‘broad spectrum job profiling’ was a concept that also goes back to the early days and is used in much of our consultancy work today.

In 2004, it was clear that the original service offering needed to be broadened and developed in order to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Increased competition, technological developments, demands in meeting customer needs were all drivers for change.

After a period of market research, MTS Management Services Ltd was founded to add additional recruitment services (Interim Management, Executive Search and HR Support Services) to the original ‘Motor Trade Selection’ business. Subsequently the concept of Managed Recruitment and various other value added and consultancy services, have been added to the portfolio of services offered.

In 2006, these separate strands of business have been merged into a group, under the name of MTS Services Group, to ensure consistency of brand values and organisation and to develop common approaches to the market place. All of the original ethics and culture have been maintained throughout the history of the business and are evident today. Equally, there has always been a history of building long term relationships and of operating with the future in mind.
