Probations are Important - Unfair Dismissals are Costly
Recruitment can be both expensive and time consuming, but is squandered by poor probationary and induction processes. With the removal of the two-year service rule and the day one unfair dismissal rights, it has never been more important to get probation processes right. Join us to gain the skills to allow you to deliver successful onboarding during probationary periods to retain your new starters, rather than facing potential costly unfair dismissal claims.
The first few days, weeks and months are critical in determining whether people develop effectively, and quickly become either an asset or a liability. Equally, it is important that employees feel valued and want to actively contribute to the business.
However, little time, effort and thought is often given to planning and achieving a meaningful, structured programme of induction learning through probationary periods. This means that people do not work to their full potential as quickly as they could and/or they “leave” the organisation, meaning further costly recruitment and possible disgruntled ex-employees now considering an unfair dismissal claim.
This course will help Managers to plan and conduct meaningful probationary processes, together with onboarding programmes that go far beyond the first week. We will identify what should be included, and how to regularly assess and constructively feedback to a new employee how they are performing, and what to do if they are not. We will also explain how, if necessary, to depart people during probation following a correct and fair procedure, thereby reducing the risk of costly legal disputes.
The course will commence at 8.30 am, with registration and refreshments from 8.00 am, and will finish around 2.00 pm, with breaks for refreshments and lunch.
The cost for this course will be £175.00 plus VAT per delegate, including lunch. Preferential rates for clients and discounts for block bookings.
